Building Community
We are the largest Jewish non-profit fundraising organization in Cincinnati, charged with building community resources, leadership and trust. We were founded on the Jewish people’s commitment to “tzedekah”- that it is righteous and just to ‘do right’ by others. For 114 years we have been helping to create a spirit of giving and hope for ourselves and around the world.
Our Annual Community Campaign supports the programs and services of over 32 partner agencies that care for thousands of people- from the elderly to families in crisis to the disabled- here at home and around the world. These programs also build community: helping to ensure and secure a vibrant Jewish community in Cincinnati.
As a member of The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), we are part of a global Federation system that is one of the world’s most successful and innovative humanitarian networks. Together with Federations in North America and around the world, we collectively invest more than $3.2 billion each year into programs and services world wide.
Our work can be divided into three primary areas:
Build Resources and Invest Them Wisely:
The Federation is the umbrella fundraising organization for Cincinnati’s Jewish community. To meet the essential needs of our Jewish community, each year through our Annual Community Campaign, we raise over $5 million that is allocated to the programs of our partner agencies in Cincinnati and around the world.
We ensure community resources are invested wisely. We are responsible for identifying duplication of services. To guide funding priorities, we conduct research that provides a comprehensive overview of Cincinnati’s Jewish community used by our partners to make strategic decisions about community programs and services.
Build Leadership and Participation:
We help ensure a vibrant, engaged community that is educated about its Jewish heritage and connected to its Jewish identities through travel to Israel. We secure a new generation of committed community members and leaders by engaging with, recruiting and preparing young adults.
Build Trust and Collaboration:
As the umbrella Jewish organization in Cincinnati, we respond to community concerns, foster collaborations among our local Jewish organizations, and serve as a resource for local organizations and media groups.
