The Idan Raichel Project is distinctive for its fusion of electronics, traditional Hebrew texts, Caribbean, and Ethiopian music.
Born in the city of Kfar-Sab, Raichel began learning to play the accordion at the age of 9 and was attracted to the sounds of gypsy music and tango. He started playing jazz in high school, and in the Israeli army he served in the army band. In 2002 Idan released his first CD, "Idan Raichel's Project", and in 2005 released his second,"Ma'amakim". Both CD's were a great success in Israel and internationally.
